Announcing Moby Dick! Update on Don Quixote & Behemoth
Hello, and happy December! Hope you are having a great gaming month 😀
I have few fun updates to share.
I am very excited to announce our second Book in a Box game, Moby Dick: Wrath of the Seas.
It's an asymmetric board game, for 1 to 6 players. It's a tad higher in complexity than Don Quixote, with play time between 30min and 60min (all pending further development work)
The game is planned to be released on Kickstarter at some point in 2025.

Successful SPIEL Essen release
We launched Don Quixote in October in SPIEL Essen, the biggest board game convention out there...and we sold out of our 150 early copies in just one day!
BoardGameGeek featured the game the game in their SPIEL coverage in the video titled "The Most Novel Game This Year?"
Few people have also been posting reviews about the game on Boardgame Geek, with all in all very positive things to say 😊
And I am really excited that my designer diary has also been featured on the site.
Have you also played the game? I would love if you could leave a rating on BGG!
Mass production and timing
Mass production has been completed: games will shortly go on a boat, headed for warehouses in the UK, France and the US. From there, we will ship the games to everyone who pre-ordered it. This is currently expected to be around February time.
A few retailers around the UK will feature the game, with more to come in Europe and the US. If you have a favourite FLGS in mind, feel free to put them in touch with me!
For those that already have the game: I have realised that the first version of the game had some small imperfections (mostly manufacturing issues), which I am looking to sort out. We will provide free replacement boxes and components to anyone who has a previous copy of the game - we will ask you to cover the shipping cost, or arrange for a pick up at a convention.
Just write to me if you are interested in it! You can read more in this BGG post.
Anyone who hasn't received or bought the game yet, will automatically receive the improved version.
I demoed Behemoth at SPIEL Essen to about 82 people, and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive! One group of players didn't enjoy the game, the rest either enjoyed it or were very excited about it.
I'm particularly happy about this, as I gave priority to testing some significant new changes rather showing off the most polished version of the game at the convention.
It was a risky move that required some concerted efforts right up to the convention, but being able to seeing many people of different demographics play it in one go was so valuable. I'm so thankful to Cassandra, Emanuele and Isabelle for the support!
Release date is still not fixed, at present a release on Gamefound in 2026 seems most likely.
There are some improvements that need happening on the design of the game, which will include some online playesting - you can sign up here on your own or with a group of friends.
Once the design is more finalised, I will focus on the art, graphics and components.

That's all for now - wishing you a happy festive season!
Best wishes
Andrea
